4 July 2023
(9am - 12pm)

Places available

There is a shortage of numerate employees in the UK. Worse than that, employers are finding a significant disconnect between grades at all levels and the practical useful deployment of the supposed equivalent skills & techniques. We need to bridge that gap.
  • Have you ever been asked by a student “what’s the point of this?”
  • Do you find pupils disengaged?
  • Do you sometimes wonder if you over-focus on exam or test results?
  • Are you an advocate for functional numeracy but not sure how to achieve this?

This one off event is definitely for you!

Target Audience
KS3/KS4 Maths teachers, HoDs and anyone who has responsibility for helping deliver secondary maths education. Relevant and translatable for KS2/KS5 teachers too.

What is the cost?
FREE for all teachers in our region!

Workshop facilitator
David Kremer, Engineer, Toy Inventor, Business Investment Angel and former Secondary Maths teacher will lead the session.

About David
David did his PGCE at Roehampton and trained at Winston Churchill Comprehensive School, Woking. He then taught KS3, 4 and 5 at Holland Park Comprehensive where he got the highest “value add” results in the Maths department several years running across varying sets. David then took a post as Head of Curriculum and Maths Lead at Sidlow Bridge PRU and rounded off his career at a small independent school as Maths HoD in Hampton. He has published a Maths Book for KS2 and has developed and sold Maths games and resources through the NCETM. David recently joined the London SW Maths Hub Strategic Board and this session is borne out of that involvement. He has promised to make this workshop interactive and engaging and will provide you with ideas and ways to Make Maths Real and relevant for all ages and abilities and give you strategies for developing your own ideas of how to continue weaving real life examples and engagement points into your lessons.
