Planning for Greater Depth

Teachers will develop their understanding of what working ‘at the expected standard’ and ‘at greater depth’ might look like within a mastery context and how this could be evidenced.  They will develop skills in providing children with opportunities to work at greater depth.

Run across the academic year, participants will have an opportunity to work collaboratively to understand, co-create materials and then develop practice back in school.

Audience:

This project is aimed at schools that are implementing a Teaching for Mastery (TfM) approach to their mathematics lessons.  It is recommended for schools who have previously been involved in a Teaching for Mastery Work Group or TRG with a Mastery Specialist.  We have one place available per school and applicants should be a class based teacher who was not directly involved within the TRG.

Please note new dates below:

Day 1:  Friday 8th March 2019 (13.30 -15.30)

Day 2:  Tuesday 26th March 2019 (09.30 -15.30)

Day 3:  Friday 26th April 2019 (13.30 -15.30)

In between the sessions, participants are expected to develop their own practice around providing high quality assessment opportunities, especially those for children to work at greater depth. They will be focused on collecting evidence and exemplar material in their own school and will keep a reflective journal. The project lead will visit some of the project schools to support and evaluate practice.
